Paul Ryan
While it is true that Ryan leads potential candidates in popularity among millennial voter and finishes a solid second in Iowa state caucus polling, he has a lot of skeletons in his closet that depict a politician focused on their own ambition, not the needs of the American people. Ryan’s political proposals do not make sense in the real world, and are full of privileged ideas such as penalizing those who do not make “progress” in escaping poverty. Even worse are his budget plans, which include raising taxes for the middle class while offering tax cuts to the super rich – a great way to win campaign donations, but not votes.
Although there is always a chance that Romney would tap his old running mate to serve as vice in 2016, this is unlikely. Months before polls revealed Romney to be a serious contender for 2016 he said:
“I love this country enough to know that I’m not as good a candidate this time around as I think other guys would be, because they’re new and not defined.”
If Romney does run, it is doubtful that he will ignore his own advice. The Republican Party needs fresh blood, and the unrealistic views of Paul Ryan are old hat.
