Hillary Makes Case to Ohio Voters at Democratic Town Hall

Tuesday, March 15 is the next ‘big day’ of the primary season when a handful of states will hold primary contests in this second installment of “Super Tuesday.” On Sunday, Hillary and Bernie appeared in a town hall at Ohio State University where they gave their final pitches to voters in the Buckeye State and elsewhere in the country who will cast their ballots on Tuesday.

One of the top topics on the minds of CNN moderators, Jake Tapper and Roland Martin, was how the candidates felt about the violence that had marred recent Trump rallies across the Midwest. As you can imagine, Hillary had some pointed words for her chief Republican rival who she says is guilty of committing “political arson” through the use of his racially-charged incendiary rhetoric. Hillary called him out on his tactics Sunday night and implored voters to reject him. As Hillary stated:

“It’s clear that Donald Trump is running a very cynical campaign, pitting groups of Americans against one another.  He is trafficking in hate and fear.  He is playing to our worst instincts rather than our angels of our better nature…There is just so much of what he is doing that I think we all have to reject.  Because, it is so at odds with our values.  You don’t make America great by tearing down everything that made America great.”

Both Bernie and Hillary were asked by Ohio primary voters how they would plan to take down Trump in a hypothetical general election matchup. In answering the question, Hillary leaned on her experience as Secretary of State to reiterate the great harm that a Trump presidency would bring to the United States’ standing in the global community. Hillary even confessed that unnamed foreign leaders have reached out to her to see if they can endorse her in an effort to stop Trump. Hillary further outlined her plan to stop Trump by stating:

“I believe that I will have an opportunity to really focus in on how dangerous a Donald Trump presidency would be for our standing, our safety, for the peace of the World, and I think we can be successful doing that.”

Sunday night’s town hall in Ohio was the Democratic candidates’ last opportunity to make an impression on voters who will head to the ballot box on Tuesday. According to recent polls in states that will vote on Tuesday, Hillary is in good shape to grow her already impressive delegate lead. The RealClearPolitics average of recent polls in Florida and North Carolina show Hillary with an insurmountable lead of over 20 percentage points in each state. Combined, the states will have over 300 delegates up for grabs on Tuesday. Polls in Ohio and Illinois are much tighter, and these contests will be closely watched on Tuesday night.

Super Tuesday part deux will be another pivotal moment in the Democratic primary campaign that hopefully results in Hillary Clinton inching even closer to securing the Party’s presidential nomination. If you reside in one of the states voting on Tuesday be sure to go to the polls and support Hillary!
