Georgia

While it may have seemed far-fetched in previous elections for a democrat to win the peach state, the Republicans can no longer be confident that Georgia is in the bag. The major reason for the shift is Georgia’s exploding minority population forming a “new Georgia” around the state’s capital, Atlanta.

There has been a rapid increase in the number of minorities, mostly black, Hispanic and Latino and they are leaning towards the left, to be sure. Since the last election the minority population is up from 37% to 44%. That’s enough to sway the state in Hillary’s favor if she and the Democratic Party can get them to the polls.

Finally, the GOP hasn’t done itself any favors in the deep South with Republican women finally getting fed up with what they call the party’s “war on women.”

The increased efforts to ban abortion, even for pregnancies that are the result of rape or incest have women voters abandoning the Republican Party. Instead of punishing the rapists and protecting the victims from further pain and suffering, lawmakers there appear to be punishing these women at every turn with legislation that would require a 48 hour waiting period before a woman can seek to exercise her constitutional right to an abortion.
