The once conservative state whose politics were dictated by “an unholy coalition of cultural conservatives and oil and gas interests,” according to reporter David Sirota, is now much more Democratic in nature.

Public health care and education programs have been greatly expanded, marijuana has been legalized for recreational use, marriage equality strengthened, lower tuition for undocumented students and strict gun control laws makes it seem like Colorado has left the left for good.

I think it [the GOP] is dead in Colorado. And it really doesn’t matter who the Republicans put up. Republicans, in my view, won’t win another presidency in my lifetime. And you see the growth of Colorado, and where the growth comes from, demographically. Colorado is a Democratic state today, and I don’t think it’s going back.

Despite Bill Clinton and Barak Obama being the only Democrats to win Colorado in 30 years the Centennial State has a new unofficial motto: as Colorado goes, so goes the nation.

This bodes well for the Democrats and Hillary Clinton.
