Rand Paul
While Paul is keeping up with his potential contenders in polls, his actions over the past year are those of someone who is clearly deluded. He recently claimed high cigarette taxes to be the root cause of Eric Garner’s controversial death in New York City, and says marriage is the “greatest tool to lift people from poverty.” Most disturbing and immature are his many attacks on Hillary – the Kentucky Senator has even coined the hashtag #hillaryslosers in his eagerness to bash his most formidable opponent. What Paul fails to realize is that a campaign based on criticism of others is no campaign at all.
However, if Paul continues on his current mission of running for both Senate and president in 2016, he may find himself out of the race altogether. Kentucky Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes has promised to fight the unlawful double dipping in the new year, saying that she won’t hesitate to “look to the court” for help. Though Paul would be well-advised to give up his dreams of presidency and focus on his place in Senate, his ally Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell recently hinted at a different plan, saying:
“If he [Rand Paul] chose to run, he would be the most credible candidate for president since Henry Clay.”
What McConnell failed to mention is that like Henry Clay, Paul would never actually make it the White House.
